Migrating machine control from S7-300 to S7-1500
Program migration to TIA Portal, a new HMI panel, cleaned-up PROFINET communication and updated EPLAN schematics, commissioned over a single weekend.
This is an example of the scope I deliver, not a description of a specific client deployment. The figures show typical targets for such a project.
Starting point
The S7-300 controller is going out of support, the HMI panel has no spare parts left and the delivery schematics do not reflect many later modifications. The machine builder no longer exists. The machine has to be back in production on Monday.
Solution
Survey of the cabinet and signals, migration of the program to TIA Portal with a cleaned-up structure, a new panel with screens mirroring the familiar operation, communication moved from PROFIBUS to PROFINET and a complete set of EPLAN schematics matching the actual state.
