Andon boards and a shop-floor production dashboard
Screens on the floor and in the office showing live machine status, plan vs actual and help calls, fed with data straight from the PLCs.
This is an example of the scope I deliver, not a description of a specific client deployment. The figures show typical targets for such a project.
Starting point
The manager learns about a breakdown when someone walks into the office. Operators cannot see whether they are keeping up with the plan. The screens on the floor show a screensaver because nobody has time to update them.
Solution
A service reading the status of every line from the PLCs and an application displayed on TVs on the floor and in the office. Status colours, plan and actual counters, time since the last cycle. An Andon button at the workstation sends a call to maintenance and measures the response time.
Scope of work
- Reading line states from PLCs (OPC UA, S7) every second
- Andon screens on shop-floor TVs, no operation required
- Manager dashboard: plan vs actual, downtime, shift trends
- Help calls from buttons and phone notifications
- Status history in the database and a response time report
